What is a dental filling?
A dental filling is a restorative dental treatment used to restore a tooth damaged by decay to bring it back to its normal function and shape. When your dentist decides to give you a filling, they will first remove the decayed tooth material then clean the affected area before filling the cleaned out the cavity with a filling material.

Do you need a filling?
Only a dentist can decide whether or not you may need a filling or another producer to restore a tooth with a cavity. Using a small mirror to visually examine the surface of each tooth a dentist then will decide what further action is needed if any at all.

We Provide Composite Fillings
Composite (plastic) resins are color matched to be the same color as your teeth. The ingredients are mixed and placed into the cavity where the mixture will harden in place. Generally last 3 to 9 years.

What to Expect during a Filling Procedure
Local anesthesia
a local anesthetic may be given at the beginning of your filling to numb the area around the tooth.
Tooth decay removal
The Geo Dental Dentist will cut through the enamel using a drill to remove any decay from the tooth. After all the decay is removed from the tooth the dentist will begin to shape the area and ready it for the filling.
Etching
For the filling to bond well the dentist with etching the tooth with an acid gel before placing the filling.
Resin Application
Based on the type of filling the dentist will layer on the resin and harden it using a bright light. This allows for a solid and strong bond to cure.
Polishing
After the filling has hardened and bonded your dentist will polish the tooth.
