Root Canal

Restorative Care

What is a Root Canal?

A root canal is a dental treatment used to repair and save badly damaged or infected tooth or teeth. The dental procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it. This dental procedure is about as painless as a standard filling procedure.

Why you may need a Root Canal?

  • Cracked Tooth
  • Deep Cavity
  • Dental Trauma
  • Decayed Tooth
  • Missing a portion of the tooth

What to expect during a root canal.

1. X-Ray

A dentist will first take an x-ray or examine existing x-rays to where the decay is located.

2. Anesthesia

A local anesthesia is applied to the affected tooth and surrounding area.

3. Pulpectomy

Opening and removing the diseased portion of the tooth pulp.

4. Filling

The roots that have been opened and had decay removed are then filled with gutta-percha material and sealed off with a dental cement.
